On Monday night, the “battle of the bands” in late-night talk was to begin. Metallica was scheduled to begin its run on “The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson.” Bono and U2 were locked in to do a week on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.”
Unfortunately, a Central Park biking incident put the U2 frontman in the hospital for surgery on his arm. Fallon then capably stepped in front of The Roots to deliver a performance of “Desire.” U2 will reschedule the residency with Fallon once Bono recovers from his injury.
Metallica hit the stage with Ferguson and delivered a blistering rendition of “Hit The Lights.” I can’t wait to see the follow-up effort on Tuesday night.
